River City Medical Group Rebrands as Vivant Health


We are pleased to announce that in September 2024, River City Medical Group, Inc. (RCMG), one of Northern California's largest Independent Physician Associations (IPAs), serving over 270,000 Medicare and Medi-Cal patients, will be officially rebranding and begin doing business as Vivant Health.  


Our new name Vivant Health reflects our mission to inspire hope and promote health equity by delivering integrated clinical practice, leveraging advanced healthcare technology, providing innovative care solutions, and fostering strong partnerships among health plans, patients, and you, our most valued care providers, to ultimately ensure a healthier future for all. We are committed to "Bringing Healthcare to Life" through equitable access and improved health outcomes for all our members.  

Through value-based initiatives and targeted system improvement, we are enhancing the patient experience, improving population health, reducing costs, and bettering the work life of healthcare providers.  


Rebranding also allows us to grow and diversify not only geographically but also beyond our original Medi-Cal roots. By merging multiple brands under Vivant Health, we're able to offer an integrated suite of coordinated services. We aim to make whole-family care and quality senior services accessible for all. As Vivant Health, we're able to help our members better understand how we bring them personalized, compassionate, and high-quality care. 


Our new logo, featuring a representation of the sun, symbolizes our commitment to promoting health equity and illuminating a path toward better population health and enhanced patient experiences. Just as the sun brings light and warmth, Vivant Health brings healthcare to life, aiming to be a beacon of compassionate and innovative care, ensuring lasting and equitable access for all.

National Drug Codes


When billing a drug HCPCS code a National Drug code is required by Vivant Health and the NDC must be a valid/active number as per the FDA for date of service being billed.


Vaccination and immunizations do not require an NDC but if you are going to bill an NDC then it has to be an active NDC on the date of service. 


If you bill an NDC that is not active it will deny with the following:


Claim Adjustment Reason Code: 16 - Claim/service lacks information or has submission/billing error(s).

Remittance Advice Remark Code: M119 - Missing/incomplete/invalid/ deactivated/withdrawn National Drug Code (NDC)



If you get this denial, then you will need to resubmit your claim based on Vivant Health corrected claim submission process

**Self Service EOB's

Vivant Health will be transitioning claims EOB's to a new platform! If you are a current EZ NET user and download copies of your claims EOB's, please reach out to  providerservices@vivanthealth.com  to request access to the Report Library

Vivant Health makes utilization management decisions based on careful review of cases by medical professionals.  All medical decisions are made using evidence based guidelines. These guidelines are available upon request by calling 916-228-4300.

Each case is reviewed for appropriateness of care, verification of coverage and the allowable levels of benefits in the plan. Vivant Health does not specifically reward practitioners or other individuals for issuing denials of coverage.  Furthermore, Vivant Health does not offer financial incentives to utilization management decision makers to encourage decisions that would result in under-utilization of care.
