RCMG News CO-VID 19
A Message regarding Telehealth/Telephone Visits during CO-VID 19 pandemic:

Providers may offer telehealth services to patients if your office meets the DHCS requirements (see

https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/

TelehealthFAQ.aspx). If you provide telehealth services you will qualify to receive payment if the claim is properly coded. Telehealth includes virtual visits as well as visits conducted by telephone. You should submit the claim using the customary codes you typically use (e.g. 99214), and include the modifier and POS sections of the claim to indicate telehealth. Please be sure to include the correct modifier (e.g. 95 or GT) and POS (e.g. 02). This applies to telephonic telehealth visits as well until we work to determine a separate code for telephonic telehealth. This reimbursement is applicable to FFS providers, telehealth/telephone visits conducted by capitated providers would be considered part of cap (as an office visit). Please use for encounter purposes.

All existing prior authorization requirements and guidelines remain in place for services rendered via telehealth with the exception of treatment of COVID-19. No authorization is required for treatment of COVID-19. Please use the following codes when billing for treatment of COVID-19:

DX - U07.1

HCPCS - U0001, U0002

Thank you as always for your dedication and work in slowing down the spread of this virus. If you should have any questions please reach out to your provider relations representative or email providerservices@rcmg.com.

River City Medical Group makes utilization management decisionsbased on careful review of cases by medical professionals.  All medical decisions are made using evidence based guidelines. These guidelines are available upon request by calling 916-228-4300.

Each case is reviewed for appropriateness of care, verification of coverage and the allowable levels of benefits in the plan. River City Medical Group does not specifically reward practitioners or other individuals for issuing denials of coverage.  Furthermore, River City Medical Group does not offer financial incentives to utilization management decision makers to encourage decisions that would result in under-utilization of care.
